Pickens County Jail Overview
Pickens County Adult Detention Center is operated by the Pickens Sheriff's Office as the county jail and adult detention facility for Pickens County. Official county pages use the Adult Detention Center name, while the Georgia Department of Corrections location directory lists the same Camp Road facility as Pickens County Jail. Those names refer to the same local jail for this purpose. It is not a Georgia state prison, a federal prison, an ICE detention center, or a separate city lockup.
The Pickens County jail holds local jail detainees after arrest, including people waiting for first appearance, bond review, arraignment, trial, or transfer. It may also hold local sentenced inmates and people with other agency holds when the jail record supports that status. The current inmate search path is the sheriff-linked JailTracker roster, because county jail custody is different from state prison custody. The GDC offender query is useful after a person is sentenced to state custody or for state correctional records, but it is not the first search for a recent Pickens County booking.
Pickens County Jail Population
The best official capacity and population point located for Pickens County Adult Detention Center is the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Primary Jail Capacity Data from August 2021. That report listed Pickens with a jail capacity of 140 and a jail population of 85, or 61 percent of capacity. The same dated row showed that most people counted were pretrial detainees, which matches the role of a county jail as a short-term custody site tied to arrest, bond, and court processing.
Those figures should not be read as a current inmate count. The sheriff's public pages did not publish a current aggregate population, current average daily population, annual bookings, or a newer rated-capacity table in the research reviewed. For a current person-by-person Pickens County inmate lookup, use JailTracker. For an aggregate jail population figure, request records from the sheriff if the number is not posted online.
| Population category | DCA August 2021 figure | Use on this jail page |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial inmates | 65, or 76 percent | Main county-jail group awaiting court or bond outcomes. |
| Sentenced inmates | 3, or 4 percent | Local sentenced jail inmates, not the state prison population. |
| Female inmates | 4, or 5 percent | Dated demographic point only. |
| Other-status inmates | 13, or 15 percent | Other jail status category in the DCA row. |
Pickens County Jail Lookup
The official current-inmate route is the Pickens County JailTracker public roster. The sheriff links to that Public Safety Cloud URL from several official pages and describes it as current-inmate information. JailTracker is the right starting point for a person recently arrested in Pickens County, including arrests by the sheriff's office, Jasper Police, or other local and state agencies that book into the county jail.
- Open the sheriff-linked JailTracker roster for Pickens County and allow the app to load in a current browser.
- Search by first name and last name. If the spelling is uncertain, start with the last name and try common variants.
- If a CAPTCHA appears, complete it before submitting the Pickens County inmate search.
- Review the result for name, arrest or booking identifier, arrest date, charges, bond fields, hold fields, and release status if shown.
- If no match appears, call the jail or check the proper state, federal, or ICE locator before concluding the person is not in custody.
A JailTracker record may show an arrest number, booking number, facility field, arresting agency, charge descriptions, court or warrant references, bond type, bond amount, hold type, charge status, and possible release information. The platform supports inmate image display settings, but Georgia law restricts agency posting and release of booking photographs, so do not assume that every Pickens County jail record will include a public mugshot. Broader roster instructions are covered on the Pickens County jail inmate records page.
Note: Very recent bookings may lag online display, so phone verification is useful when an arrest happened the same day.
Pickens County Jail Contact
Use the jail contact information for custody confirmation, lobby questions, bond processing, visitation routing, and facility-specific rules. Use the Records Division or NextRequest route for copies of arrest reports, booking records, incident reports, or other law-enforcement records that are not visible on the public roster. The sheriff's pages separate the front lobby window from records business hours, which matters when a visitor needs a formal record instead of a general jail question.

Pickens County Jail Visitation
Pickens County jail visitation is video-based through JailATM. The sheriff's visitation rules state that no personal contact or in-person visits are allowed with inmates. Each inmate is allowed one visit per day and one free video visit each week. Off-site video visits may be accessed from a home computer or cell phone during the inmate's free time, and paid visits after the free visit use JailATM's current rate.
All video visitation is subject to monitoring. The sheriff's rules also warn that lewd, profane, inappropriate, or disruptive conduct by the visitor or inmate can end the visit and may lead to loss of visitation privileges. Emergency situations can cancel visitation without advance notice. Because the system is video-only, confirm account setup, scheduling, and any current JailATM rules before planning a visit.
| Visitation item | Pickens County Adult Detention Center rule | Practical point |
|---|---|---|
| Provider | JailATM | Use the vendor for off-site video access. |
| Visit type | Video visitation only | No personal-contact or in-person inmate visits are allowed. |
| Daily limit | One visit per inmate per day | Coordinate family visits before scheduling. |
| Free visit | One free video visit per inmate per week | Later visits use the vendor's going rate. |
| Monitoring | All video visits are monitored | Conduct rules can affect future access. |
Pickens County Jail Mail
Pickens inmate services changed personal mail handling effective May 15, 2026. Personal inmate mail, except legal mail and listed special categories, must be sent to JailATM's central mail facility. JailATM opens and scans that mail, then sends it electronically to the inmate at the jail. Outgoing mail from the jail continues to be written on postcards. Legal mail still goes directly to the sheriff's office at the Camp Road jail address.
Money and commissary services also run through JailATM. Deposits can be made in the Pickens Sheriff's Office front lobby through the Legacy Jail ATM kiosk with cash, debit card, or credit card, or online through JailATM. Fees may apply, but the sheriff's page did not publish a full fee schedule. Gift packs can be ordered through JailATM, with examples such as snack, coffee, and basic item packs. Phone calls are handled through PayTel.

Pickens County Jail Bond
Bond at Pickens County Adult Detention Center depends on the court order, the charges, and any holds. The sheriff's inmate-services page lists cash bond, professional bond, Pickens County property bond, and approved property bond from another Georgia county. A no-bond hold, probation hold, parole hold, ICE detainer, or other jurisdiction's hold can stop release even when one charge appears bondable.

| Cash bond | Pay the exact cash amount of the total bond. | The sheriff's office cannot make change. |
| Professional bond | Use a licensed bonding company from the lobby-posted list. | The company list was not published online in the research reviewed. |

Pickens County Jail Medical Records
Pickens County states that incarcerated inmates receive in-house medical, dental, and mental-health treatment through Southern Health Partners. The direct number for medical inquiries is 706-253-8955. Jail personnel will not pass personal messages, but family emergencies may be directed to supervisory personnel. Medical information is not the same as a public jail roster record, so expect privacy limits when asking about treatment, medication, or mental-health care.
For jail documents, use the sheriff's NextRequest open-records portal or submit a written request through the front lobby. Requests should include names, incident dates, case numbers, booking dates, or arresting agency details when known. The sheriff cites O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 for allowable administrative, supply, search, retrieval, copying, and supervision fees, with no charge for the first 15 minutes. Local criminal-history checks are handled in the front lobby during business hours for a listed $15 cash exact-change fee with photo ID.
Pickens County Custody Limits
Pickens County Adult Detention Center is a county jail. It is the right search target for a current local booking, but not every custody status stays there. After sentencing to state prison, a person may move into GDC custody and should be searched through the state offender query. Federal sentenced custody uses the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. Immigration custody uses the ICE Online Detainee Locator System for eligible current detainee searches.
Georgia VINELink is also available as a custody notification tool. It is useful for alerts about custody changes, but it does not replace JailTracker for Pickens County jail records or GDC for state prison records. Pickens also posts Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act quarterly reports, which can show aggregate booking and ICE-detainer reporting. Those reports are not an individual detainee search.
Note: Confirm custody and visitation before traveling, because transfer, release, court transport, or emergency cancellation can change access quickly.
